Our Mini-Economy
We have an economy in our classroom fueled by hard work and reward. Each classroom job is a paid position changing each month. A paycheck is received on our scheduled "economy Fridays" and desk rent as well as debits and fines will be paid to the bank. Credits will be paid to each student and deposits and withdrawals will be recorded. It is a fun way to begin to learn the basic rules of an economy and it is a remarkable motivator for the students. We will tweak the program to fit our changing needs and the students will have a vote in all decisions. Money earned can be spent on trimester parties, classroom coupons, and silent auctions. We are always looking for food, cash donations, new and gently used items, and gift cards that appeal to third graders!
